Family: Combretaceae (Rangoon creeper family)
Brief Details: Axle Wood is a small to medium-sized tree, growing up to 20 m tall. It is closely related to the Buttontree. Trunk is straight and cylindrical or sometimes more poorly shaped. The Bark is smooth or with scales, pale to dark gray. Branches are drooping. Leaves are oppositely arranged, with grayish-yellow or whitish hair below. Flowers are small and have parts in fives. Sepals are joined together in a stalk-like tube, expanded at top into a 5-lobed cup. There are no petals.
